#AtoZChallenge: Keillor
Trying to think of a “K” word to tie in with my other #AtoZChallenge posts reminded me of an exercise we used to do in school to help learn each other’s names. Each student would recite their first name, then think of an adjective to describe themselves that began with the same first letter. If there was nobody with a “K” name before me, I would have been fine, because “kind” always came to my mind first. However, I was always the third or fourth “K” in my classes, which infuriated me. What good adjectives start with K? Well, for the purpose of this post, I’ve browsed dictionaries and even…

#AtoZChallenge: Handbooks
When writing gets hard, there’s nothing like looking to the experts in order to really put your flaws and mistakes out in the open. That’s why, for my #AtoZChallenge, H is for Handbooks.

A Picture Can’t
What you can’t see, is an almost identical tree much closer to the camera, although just left of the frame. What you can’t see, is a historical fort much further in the distance, although just right of the frame. What you can’t see, is where the ocean seems to go on forever, that hazy line of the horizon that shapes our world. What you can’t smell, is a naturally sweet aroma that slowly fills your nostrils, a sanguine scent you wish you could bottle and carry with you always. Its source: pink petals in a boisterous green bush crowding the edge of the tarred path; also what you can’t see.…

Dear Coffee – A Letter
Dear Coffee, Over the past couple of weeks, I’ll admit, I’ve been neglecting you. Not scooping as much of you into my most beloved appliance which turns your ground little self into a dark, delicious liquid that transforms my mornings from good to glorious has not been easy, but it’s been necessary. Predicting terrible headaches, groggy afternoons, and intense cravings, I have sadly walked out the door without a coffee to go and driven by many a coffee shop with longing in my eyes. However, I could not have been more wrong about my predictions. Yes, the first day or two I fell victim to slight caffeine withdrawal headaches, and did feel…

February Reading Challenge: Anna Karenina
My desire to get through this Leo Tolstoy creation is red hot; unfortunately my success with doing so is as non-existent as a flame in an outdoor fireplace buried under four feet of snow. I have tried reading this novel over and over and over again, and while I did get further this month than I have during previous attempts, I still could not get through the seven hundred and fifty four pages of this particular edition. Why oh why can I not get through it? Before talking about why my need to read this novel is so intense, I need to tell you that this Reading Challenge conclusion is…

What’s Going On When Nothing’s Going On
What drives a blog is, of course, its writer/photographer/artist/owner, and the content created by that writer/photographer/artist/owner. As a novice blogger, I consider very accomplished bloggers, or accomplished individuals or organizations with successful blogs, mentors in my blogging adventure, apart from inspirations in my life adventures. However, by following fellow novice and developing bloggers like myself, I’m also continuing to learn from and be inspired by their trials and errors, and gaining (as well as offering) support while I work through my errors and toward success. Between all of these people, my professional and personal experiences, and my reflective, dreamy soul, it should be simple to produce something worth reading all the time (I think). But…
