NaNoWriMo 2021 | Week 3 Update

We have arrived at the end of week three of National Novel Writing Month 2021 – how are you doing with your writing goals?

I went into week three hoping to reach 15,000 words, and I got pretty close. The past week was definitely my best writing week; maybe that high will carry me through the next seven (nearly six) days.

My current total word count is 14,256 words. Realistically I think I can get to 16,000 words by the end of National Novel Writing Month, but I’m not going to push it. My work in progress (WIP) is quite fleshed out (I would even argue to myself that it was fleshed out two years ago), and while I am enjoying the exploratory path I’ve taken it down this year, I think too many loose ends and branches have started unraveling parts that I’ve felt good about up until now.

Basically, my story really needs to be reread and re-outlined. But first, more words! 😉

Feel free to share your successes, goals, or fails from the third week of National Novel Writing Month in a comment below, and if you are interested, follow my daily progress on Twitter or my NaNo profile.
