Bliss on a Coffee Mug | Sunday Morning Thoughts
BLISS is stamped on the side of my current coffee mug. The toffee almond caramel coffee inside is certainly giving this day a blissful start, in conjunction with the time I’ve set aside this morning to write [this post].

Day 1/365
Happy New Year! I hope you were able to celebrate last night with friends, family, a loved one, a great movie, favorite book, or at least one co-worker you like. I indulged in an ice cream sundae, drank champagne, read Vinegar Girl, and reigned supreme in two Skip-Bo games. Nick & I welcomed 2017 with a kiss and shots, and now, 12 hours in, I have work on my mind and procrastination to pay for. So far, nothing has really changed! Not that I’m complaining. I looked back at my first post of 2016, which was short, but full of optimism, hope, and a horrendous/wonderful “that was so last year” joke.…

Rainy Days and Book Nostalgia
It’s been steadily raining all day, and according to the local weatherwoman tomorrow is the only day we will be getting relief from the feels-colder-than-it-is wetness. Rainy days make me want to be at home cooking a warm, delicious meal and settling in with a thick book to read. Sometimes: A Rambling
*This post originally appeared on my previous blog on February 22, 2015 Sometimes when I dream, nonsensical events make sense. Sometimes when I dream, the beauty of those nighttime adventures disappear within minutes of waking up. Sometimes when I dream, it’s not even when I’m asleep. Sometimes when I dream, I’m doing a tedious task or not being attentive in a conversation. Sometimes when I dream, I am illogical; unrealistic; weird; romantic. Sometimes when I dream, I am thrown into such a happiness as to what could become. Sometimes when I dream, I am thrown into such a sadness as to what has not become. Sometimes when I dream, my…

Beginnings
Racing, swerving, changing lanes along the car-height cement medians, through green and yellow lights – stop; red. The brake pedal feels the pressure that the accelerator needed relief from. But not for long. Now rushing over the pavement, past the two-story houses and finally that long brick wall surrounding a regimented campus, which soon gives way to equally historic brick buildings and one more stop light; left lane… Waiting. At first with just one other vehicle. A white van with Pennsylvania plates and a steel ladder attached to the roof. White lines make long lanes, soon to be filled from end to end with cars of all makes and from a…

Get Lost and Feel Small
At one or many points in your life, you should get lost and feel small. Not at the mercy of another human, or to the point where you can’t find yourself [eventually] again. But in the way that directs your mind to peace, where your worries melt away and you realize how large the world is and how minor your stresses are. This doesn’t mean you’re belittling your issues, or not taking your life seriously. This is a mechanism of the coping variety; take in the world, breathe, sit for a while, and then take on your life with a fresh and clear perspective. My advice: Drive to a beaten…
