    PageHabit Book Subscription Box

    December 3, 2017 /

In November I entered the THANKSgiveaway contest from PageHabit, a book subscription service (thanks NetGalley for the heads up/email!), thinking it was going to be just another contest I wasn’t going to win (looking at you, Goodreads). But, and you can tell from the existence of this very post, I received an email from PageHabit that said because one of the 500 winners did not claim their prize, a spot was open for me. Now that I’ve received the box – you may have seen it on my Insta story – and have had time to go through all the goodies, I’m going to share the items and my thoughts…

    2017RC: Fire Study

    September 17, 2017 /

As I look back on what I wrote for Poison Study, my reflections on Maria V. Snyder’s third installment in the Study Series, Fire Study, are sentimental, corrective, and tumultuous. I now understand more about the other books branching out in the world Maria V. Snyder has created, and know they cannot – well, should not – be read out of order. Additionally, my desire to continue along Yelena (and Valek)’s journey has dimmed, so while I may seek them out to complete the story (does it have an actual end?) I will not do so for my Reading Challenge. This post contains spoilers. While I would love to have you read…

    2017RC: Magic Study

    August 23, 2017 /

After finishing Poison Study for my Reading Challenge, I was able to get my hands on a copy of Magic Study pretty quickly, and will admit that I finished it in one day. As the second in Maria V. Snyder’s series, this certainly makes a nice transition from where we ended up at the end of the first, to where I’m assuming Snyder takes the story in the third. This post is a short one, because in this second book there are a lot more world-related details, a lot more excitement, and for me, a little less reflection.

    2017RC: Poison Study

    August 16, 2017 /

After falling in love with Deborah Harkness’ The Book of Life series, I sought out other fantasy series to fill the void I was left with after completing her trilogy. For my 2017 Reading Challenge, I decided to include The Lord of the Rings as my “series pick,” but wanted to read an additional series I was not familiar with. So after reading countless blogs and scanning multiple BookRiot lists, I decided on Maria V. Snyder’s Poison Study series.
