    From My Bookshelf: Think Pink

    March 3, 2020 /

Currently I am sitting next to an open window, listening to and periodically watching the rushing water of the river directly behind my apartment. There is not a cloud in the sky and the fresh air is doing wonders for my mood. And since this spring-like March day has me thinking about rolling green fields and blooming flowers, I am directing my attention to the books From My Bookshelf that feature one of my favorite spring colors: pink!

From My Bookshelf: The First “New” Books of the Decade

    January 14, 2020 /

Here with another Happy New Year greeting – this time From My Bookshelf. It’s the first FMB post of the new year and new decade, so I thought it would be fitting to feature the books of my first 2020 book haul.

From My Bookshelf: Garden, Pearl, Tales

    December 3, 2019 /

For the past few months I have made it a habit to organize/tidy up my bookshelves at the very beginning of the month. It’s another great way to start the month off refreshed, and if you find organizing your shelves therapeutic like I do, it offers a few moments of calm before the onslaught of a new month of responsibilities. This month was no different, and as I rearranged my bookshelves I once again encountered the black canvas storage basket in which I keep some of my more delicate vintage editions. The three I’ve chosen for this installment of From My Bookshelf all carry a different level of infamy, they…

From My Bookshelf: English, Carnation, Ring

    November 5, 2019 /

From My Bookshelf: Ending, Ravens, Dark

    October 1, 2019 /

In honor of October and the spooky portion of fall, the three books I’ve pulled From My Bookshelf this month have dark and troubling themes, and take their readers on different degrees of horrifying journeys. The two novels are I’m Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid and Ravens Gathering by Graeme Cumming, plus Dark Tales, a short story collection by Shirley Jackson.
