Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag 2018
I first came across this Book Tag on Literary Weaponry, although by now I’ve seen it on just about every book blog. I’m hoping that you haven’t gotten tired of reading this tag, but obviously I’m not too concerned since I’m doing it anyway. And before I ramble any more, let’s get into the Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag.
Best Book You’ve Read Yet in 2018
Launching right in with the toughest category, huh? I’ve loved almost every book I’ve read so far this year, but I’ll give this title to And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie.
Best Sequel You’ve Read so far in 2018
I’ve read three Miss Marple stories by Agatha Christie, and since those are really the only sequel-like books I’ve read this year (I’ve started a lot of series), I’m choosing A Murder is Announced.
New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Want To
Oh so many. But I’m giving this one to Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi.
Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year
Vengeful by V.E. Schwab.
The English Wife by Lauren Willig. I wanted so badly to love this but I couldn’t finish it – I’m going to give it another try thanks to some advice I received about Lauren Willig (read those details here), but for now it’s a DNF.
The Last Equation of Isaac Severy by Nova Jacobs. I chose this book from the Book of the Month Club as a sort of out-of-my-comfort-zone pick, and enjoyed it far more than I was expecting to.
Favorite New Author
From what I’ve seen of this tag on booktube and book blogs, this can be a debut author or a new-to-me author. And since I can’t decide on just one: Agatha Christie, Celeste Ng, and Madeline Miller.
Newest Fictional Crush
Henry Adams from What Kitty Did Next by Carrie Kablean.
Newest Favorite Character
Dara from The City of Brass.
Book That Made You Cry
I haven’t actually finished
reading listening to this audiobook, but I’m going to put it here, anyway: The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.
Book That Made You Happy
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.
Favorite Book to Film Adaptation of 2018
I haven’t seen any book to film adaptations this year, so I’m going to answer with my favorite comic book adaptation/interpretation, which is Black Panther.
Favorite Post You Have Done This Year
Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought This Year
I’m giving this one to Mary Barton and Other Tales, an edition I found at Carlson Turner Books and Bookbindery.
Books You Need to Read by the End of The Year
SO MANY, but mainly all the books on my bookshelves since that is my main Reading Challenge goal for the year.
Now onto July, and the second half of the year. Let me know if you fill out this book tag (or have already), and share your second half of 2018 goals below!
Always good to see Agatha Christie find a new fan! 😀

Every time I see Agatha’s name on a blog I mourn the loss of my Agatha collection! My cousin just Instagrammed that Children of Blood and Bone book. I really have to up my reading game. I’m too far out of the loop!
Oh no! 🙁 I’ve been bookmarking some Agatha Christie editions because I’d like to have a complete collection – at some point in my life. And I hope you are able to get back into the loop!
Love your vintage book – I have a few that I’ve collected too. You may think I’m very weird but there’s something special about the smell of an old book!!!
Not weird at all! Used bookstores are always my favorite because of the way all old books smell – it’s comforting! 🙂
Emmalene aka A Brummie Home and Abroad
Thank you for all the great recommendations Kelsey – my Kindle wishlist is swelling as we speak!
I’m happy to hear that! 😀
