2019 Louisa May Alcott Reading Challenge
<< The 2019 Challenge has ended. You can read my Wrap-Up here. >>
The Louisa May Alcott Reading Challenge is back! And as you can tell by the existence of this post, I’m joining in once again.
This reading challenge is hosted by Tarissa from In The Bookcase, and I had such a great time reading Louisa May Alcott’s Eight Cousins last year that I’ve been anticipating the 2019 announcement post all month. If you have never read anything by Louisa May Alcott, or you are looking for an excuse to read more of her work, now is the perfect time. Well, June 1st to June 30th is the perfect time.
If you are interested, go check out Tarissa’s post for all the details, as well as some suggestions for what to read if you’re not quite sure where to start. The great thing about this reading challenge is that it is for non-fiction and fiction lovers alike; choose to read the words Louisa May Alcott wrote herself or words others have written about her (biographies, creative non-fiction, etc.). Read one book, six books, listen to an audiobook, reread one of your favorites; this challenge is really all about dedicating some time to this American novelist.
What I’m Reading
Like I mentioned before, last year I read Eight Cousins for the first time, and it was delightful. If you are familiar with and enjoyed Little Women because of its tone and themes, I definitely recommend Eight Cousins. This year I am challenging myself to read the sequel – Rose in Bloom – as well as the other stories (including Work) in this Library of America Edition:
Have you read any of these stories? And will you be joining the reading challenge? Chat with me in the comments and be sure to sign up over at In The Bookcase if you decide to blog about your goals!
