RC2017: The Tsar of Love and Techno

    October 31, 2017 /

The stories in Anthony Marra’s The Tsar of Love and Techno could sturdily stand on their own – but after reading them together you will wish for them never to be separated. I added this book to my 2017 Reading Challenge per a recommendation from book reviewer and blogger FictionFan, who highly recommends the audiobook (I read a physical copy), and I’m so glad I did.

    NaNoWriMo 2017

    October 28, 2017 /

Another year, another National Novel Writing Month. I’m feeling particularly excited for NaNoWriMo this time around, because I’ve been busy with freelance writing this fall and my work as a Copywriter, as well as getting things published here on my blog. I’m hoping my productive streak will continue on in the quest to write 50,000 words, and not transform into the dreaded burnout.

    Tequila Mockingbird: Gin Eyre

    October 27, 2017 /

Well, it’s about time I try another cocktail from Tim Federle’s Tequila Mockingbird. I decided to select one I was pretty sure I would like, and since the literary connection is with my favorite literary heroine, the Gin Eyre was the obvious choice.

From My Bookshelf: Mansfield, Beasts, Charlotte

    October 25, 2017 /

We all know the timeless adage “don’t judge a book by its cover.” As a book lover, though, I practice that in just about every area of my life except books. The following three picks From My Bookshelf are proof of that: Mansfield Park, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (screenplay), and Charlotte’s Web and Other Illustrated Classics. The charm of their covers isn’t the only reason I purchased them, but it certainly makes me treasure them more.

Audiobook Review: The Watchmaker of Filigree Street

    October 23, 2017 /

I’m so glad I traded in one Audible credit for The Watchmaker of Filigree Street by Natasha Pulley. Before I rush out to find a physical copy to harbor and love, I’ll tell you what I thought about the Audible recording by Thomas Judd.

RC2017: Murder on the Orient Express

    October 12, 2017 /

I selected Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie for my 2017 Reading Challenge because it has been made into a movie that will be out in November. Well, I should say the movie is being remade, since there is a 1974 version already out there. This is the first Agatha Christie novel I’ve read, and I’m fighting back the urge to abandon all other books in my Reading Challenge to just continue reading Agatha Christie exclusively.
