UPDATE #1: Summer Reading “Challenge”
I was hoping to be a little further along in my Challenge and the Penguin 80 list by the first update, but I’m not being too hard on myself for being behind. For my first read, I’ve chosen Anna Karenina – an advantageous first choice if I do say so myself. Or maybe I’m subconsciously hoping the rest of the list will go by quickly after I read one of the longest novels I’ve encountered in my life. My edition of Anna Karenina is 754 pages long. I am about 1/7 of the way through, which looks less impressive than it feels.
Anyway, Anna Karenina is starting to become one of my favorite stories; I’m glad that I am finally setting aside time to tackle it. There’s travel, aristocracy, families, manors, cities, love and affairs. I hate to put it down, and although it’s larger than anything I usually take to the beach, I haven’t been able to let myself avoid placing it in my bag when I’ve gone anywhere in the past week.
I guess that’s all for this update, but I’d love to hear about what you’re reading! Are you following along with this, or any other challenge? Leave a comment below, and happy reading.
