Reading | 2024 Review and 2025 Goals
There’s not much to my 2024 reading review. In fact, I barely read anything last year. Thanks to Instagram, I can recall reading A Cafecito Story (El Cuento del Cafecito) by Julia Alvarez and Rose Cottage by Mary Stewart; and I know I started reading quite a few books (I did get 500 pages into Brandon Sanderson’s The Way of Kings and had good intentions to continue N.K. Jemisin’s The Dreamblood series with The Shadowed Sun).
But overall, 2024 was my worst year of reading in recent history. Generally speaking, it was a year of personal struggle, and most of my hobbies fell to the wayside – most significantly, reading and blogging – I really didn’t have the heart or mind to do anything other than get through each day.
For 2025, however, I am feeling determined to make reading a bigger part of my life again. So I’ve refamiliarized myself with my StoryGraph account, and chosen a reread as my first book of the year so my hit-the-ground-running attitude is not stunted by a book I may not like.
Reading Goals
I have set two specific reading goals:
- Read 15 books in 2025
- Read 20 pages every day in 2025
As mentioned above, my StoryGraph will be one of the places where I can hold myself accountable for these goals (this blog being the other), and possibly explore reading challenges as the year goes on.
I also want to try consistently updating a physical book/reading journal this year. I have decorated a title page for this year, so I need to at least make the time I spent on that worth it by actually reading…😛
It won’t take much to make 2025 a better reading year than 2024, although staying committed to my reading goals will be the real challenge as the new-year-freshness wears off and life continues to happen.
Have you set any reading goals this year? Are there any books you can’t wait to read in 2025? Let’s chat in the comments.
