Black Beauty | Reading Challenge 2017
For those of you who have read Black Beauty by Anna Sewell, it certainly won’t surprise you that she wrote the book to “induce kindness, sympathy and an understanding of the treatment of horses.” And while it is considered a classic children’s novel, it really should [also] be required reading for individuals of any age. Particularly those who have forgotten basic lessons learned in childhood, such as kindness, sympathy, and an understanding of humane, righteous treatment of others.

2018 Reading Challenge
For this year’s Reading Challenge, I’ve decided to forego the search of titles to fill a list of criteria, and instead look to the books that fill my shelves.

RC2017: The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck
Alright, this is going to be short and not sweet. I would like to say that I read Sarah Knight’s The Life-Changing Magic of Not Giving a F*ck from cover to cover and that I gained some insight on how not to give a fuck about things that aren’t worth it. But if I said those things I would be lying. So my following thoughts are on the introduction, and nothing more. Oh, and if it wasn’t already clear, this post contains “explicit” language.

RC2017: The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up
I started reading Marie Kondo’s The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up with a fair amount of skepticism. I certainly didn’t expect to come away feeling as inspired as I am, and the spiritual impression The KonMari Method made on me is just as much of a surprise.

RC2017: The Tsar of Love and Techno
The stories in Anthony Marra’s The Tsar of Love and Techno could sturdily stand on their own – but after reading them together you will wish for them never to be separated. I added this book to my 2017 Reading Challenge per a recommendation from book reviewer and blogger FictionFan, who highly recommends the audiobook (I read a physical copy), and I’m so glad I did.

RC2017: Murder on the Orient Express
I selected Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie for my 2017 Reading Challenge because it has been made into a movie that will be out in November. Well, I should say the movie is being remade, since there is a 1974 version already out there. This is the first Agatha Christie novel I’ve read, and I’m fighting back the urge to abandon all other books in my Reading Challenge to just continue reading Agatha Christie exclusively.
