RC 2016 – Halfway Through January
Good morning! We are now about halfway through January and although I haven’t finished either of my Reading Challenge titles yet, I am happy to report that I am at least halfway through them. RC2015 – October: Yes Please
Happy Saturday, happy Halloween, happy last day of October, and most importantly, happy first day of deer hunting season to all of my family, friends, and fellow Mainers! This last occasion is making me nostalgic today, but that’s for another post. Reading Challenge 2015 – October: Yes Please
Happy Saturday, happy Halloween, and happy last day of October! This post is to address the last occasion listed above, and that is the last day of October, and more specifically, the end to October’s Reading Challenge. As a true procrastinator, I finished Yes Please¹ just an hour or so ago, but I promise that had more to do with my phobia of finishing books and less about the timeline because honestly, a month to finish a book is really a generous amount of time. Literally and Figuratively – OR – Two Words, Two Meanings
Literally: truly, actually, exactly. Figuratively: metaphorically, not actually. I’m getting severely concerned that “figuratively” will soon cease to exist because of society’s obsession with dramatizing and embellishing sentences, thoughts, and stories. I’m not so much concerned with individuals’ not understanding the difference between the two words at the beginning of this post; based on my experiences [with correcting people’s use of “literally”], the definitions are clearly understood. Perhaps I will never understand. Perhaps I should stop using “literally” sarcastically in order to save its f-word opposite. Perhaps…ugh. I literally can’t even.
