Madame d’Aulnoy and The Island of Happiness (Announcement)
Okay fairy tale admirers: in case you missed it, The Guardian Books published a piece yesterday (December 21st) highlighting the 17th-century French writer Madame d’Aulnoy, an upcoming release of a collection of her fairy tales—The Island of Happiness—, and one tale that will “be published in English for the first time in more than 300 years.”

Juniper Books Fall/Winter Wish List | 2018
I admire everything about Juniper Books. Their gift sets, their social media presence, their story, and their catalog. The latter of those things just arrived in my mailbox, so I thought I would share a few of my favorite books and sets from the catalog in a wish list (and since this is blog-land I feel that I should indicate that this post is in no way $ponsored by Juniper Books).

Little piles of books and journals can be found throughout my apartment. The deep windowsills in this old, renovated mill building make for some excellent bookshelves, as do my coffee and chair side tables, desk, dresser, bedside stand, and really any flat surface. These books have traveled with me to beaches, camp, campgrounds, college, Long Island, and back to Maine with me, and while I do not have my entire collection with me, some of my most comforting and favorite tomes always come along for the twists and turns of life’s journeys.
