    RC2015 – October: Yes Please

    October 31, 2015 /

Happy Saturday, happy Halloween, happy last day of October, and most importantly, happy first day of deer hunting season to all of my family, friends, and fellow Mainers! This last occasion is making me nostalgic today, but that’s for another post. This post is to address the second to last occasion listed above, and that is the last day of October, and more specifically, the end to October’s Reading Challenge. As a true procrastinator, I finished Yes Please¹ just an hour or so ago, but I promise that had more to do with my phobia of finishing books and less about the timeline because honestly, a month to finish a…

Reading Challenge 2015 – October: Yes Please

    October 31, 2015 /

Happy Saturday, happy Halloween, and happy last day of October! This post is to address the last occasion listed above, and that is the last day of October, and more specifically, the end to October’s Reading Challenge. As a true procrastinator, I finished Yes Please¹ just an hour or so ago, but I promise that had more to do with my phobia of finishing books and less about the timeline because honestly, a month to finish a book is really a generous amount of time. And yes, it’s a true phobia. But that’s for another post as well, and maybe for that one I’ll try to find the “scientific” name…

UPDATE #7 (and final): Summer Reading Challenge

    September 24, 2015 /

Happy fall, followers and readers! My Summer Reading Challenge timeline has met its end, much more quickly than I expected and hoped. Here is a summary of my progress with the Penguin 80 and Challenge Your Shelf book lists: Total Number of Titles: 110 Number of Days: 89 (oh God why didn’t I make this 90?! Cue OCD freakout) Titles Read Before Challenge:Ā 9 Titles Read During Challenge: 3 Titles in Limbo: 1 (I haven’t forgotten about you,Ā Anna Karenina) Even I understand the math between the total number of titles and the number of days; I knew this from the beginning. Did I purposely set myself up for failure, you ask?…

    Summer Reading “Challenge”

    June 27, 2015 /

I was hit yesterday by these facts: my cable bill was due, I have to hope my car payment will get mailed on time for the beginning of next week, and rent is due in four short days. Oh, and in a couple of weeks I’ll have to start regularly paying back my student loans, rather than just paying a little here and there. To make an already long story short, it hit me that June is coming to an end and July is just around the corner. Please pass by slower, July. Anyway, I’ve been plugging along with my ever lengthening reading wish list, and while I’m enjoying what…
