NaNoWriMo 2020 | Week 2 Update

We have arrived at Day 14 of National Novel Writing Month 2020 – how are you doing? Hanging in there? Meeting your goals? Switching up your goals? Whatever you’re doing to ready yourself for the next week of NaNoWriMo, I hope you take a little time to reflect on your progress so far.

The mid-month slump is hitting me hard this month. I’ve gone through this over the past few months, but I think Daylight Saving Time has really exacerbated the effects of less sunlight on everything in my life. Not even the nice walks I’ve been able to take over the past week have really eased my anxiety, because we should not be having mid-seventy degree weather in the northeast US for such a prolonged period during this time of year…whew, I really just needed to get that out. What I’m trying to say is this slumpiness has effected my writing progress, so I’m leaving this second week of National Novel Writing Month in a bit of a bad mood.

I just finished writing 504 words—it’s 11PM here—which brings my total word count to 19,667 words. I wanted to hit 25,000 words by the end of the day tomorrow (Sunday), but at this point if I make it to 20,000 words it will be a win.

I’m sorry for the downtrodden tone of this update, but that’s just how it is right now. I hope you are faring better with your project, and if you are in the same boat as I am—I’m here for you!

Feel free to share your successes, goals, or fails from the second week of National Novel Writing Month in a comment below, and if you are interested, follow my daily progress on Twitter or my NaNo profile.
