- Steamy and a bit more exciting, although similar gender-role content as the book above.
- The Wolf and the Woodsman by Ava Reid
- A good debut novel; I shared my full thoughts in this book review.
- The Alloy of Law by Brandon Sanderson
- As someone who loved the lengthy volumes of the original Mistborn trilogy, this installment (placed 300 years after The Hero of Ages) felt short. But I loved the mystery and new developments of the world, as well as the protagonists.
- Forbidden by Beverly Jenkins
- While I feel cheated out of an intimate post-marriage scene, the intimate scenes that were included—and all the anticipation leading up to them—were top notch, of course.
- The Stone Sky by N.K. Jemisin
- I’m avoiding looking back in my blog posts to see when I first said I was starting to read the final book in The Broken Earth trilogy, because I know it was a while ago. I expected no less than the monumental ending to this series, and I already want to reread it…
Books I Did Not Finish
- The Secret History of the Pink Carnation by Lauren Willig
This book was recommended to me years ago after I mentioned how hard of a time I was having getting into The English Wife by Lauren Willig. This novel is far easier to get lost in and I am officially obsessed. I didn’t finish it in June, but plan to breeze through the final 130 pages in July.
- Sparking the Fire by Kate Meader

This third installment in Kate Meader’s series features a celebrity character, which I knew before starting the book. I’m not typically a fan of stories that have this type of character(s), and unfortunately this was not an exception. I made it about halfway before DNFing.

Miscellany
Apart from reading and soaking up all the sun I can get, I’m also in the home stretch of wedding-related planning for my sister. The rest of the summer will be quite busy, which I’m looking forward to. I’ve missed being busy and having dates to look forward to.
