Down the TBR Hole #1

Down the TBR Hole is a blogging meme created by Lost in a Story, and I’ve decided to take part. I’m feeling especially motivated to do this after completing the My Blog’s Name in Books Tag/recently facing my TBR, and although I knew my Goodreads TBR was overwhelming, I decided I want to clean it up a bit. So here we are.

This is how it works:

Since this is my first go, I’m taking it easy by choosing just five books. And they are:

Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer

Even with the mixed reviews, I’m still interested in reading this for myself.

Verdict: Keep

Girl Walks Into a Bar…: Comedy Calamities, Dating Disasters, and a Midlife Miracle by Rachel Dratch

Part of one of the best eras of Saturday Night Live – I don’t remember adding this book but I’m glad I did!

Verdict: Keep

Not My Father’s Son by Alan Cumming

I first saw Alan Cumming in the 1999 Disney TV movie adaptation of the Broadway musical Annie (which I watched nearly everyday as a child), and have always enjoyed his appearances in various shows and movies. His book sounds affecting, and although I don’t tend to gravitate towards heavy non-fiction, I’m still incredibly drawn to this one.

Verdict: Keep

Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris

I’ve enjoyed many of David Sedaris’ pieces in The New Yorkerand I still very much look forward to reading this.

Verdict: Keep

Stories I Only Tell My Friends by Rob Lowe

I’m guessing I added this book because of Parks and Recreation, but I have no interest in reading it.

Verdict: Discard

Based off this list it may seem like I love biographical non-fiction, although it is probably one of the genres I am least likely to reach for (this will become apparent in future Down the TBR Hole posts). Anyway, if you’ve read any of these books, let me know! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
