I enjoy looking back on book tags I’ve done and “updating” them to fit my current mood, likes, or books that are on my radar. The Books I Want to Read Tag is one that I haven’t yet “updated” (from last year), so here we are. I really like the premise behind this book tag, which is listed under the Rules below…
The Rules:

- Complete the questions with books you do WANT to read, but the actual process of reading them seems daunting or unappealing
- Tag some people at the end to do this tag next
A book you feel you need to read because everybody’s talking about it:
One by One by Ruth Ware seems to be everywhere I look. I want to read it because even after DNFing The Death of Mrs. Westaway, I still want to try (and hopefully like) something else by Ruth Ware.
A book that’s really long:
The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson – I believe it hits 1,000 (or just a little over 1,000) pages.
A book you’ve had on your bookshelf or TBR list for far too long:
The Secret History by Donna Tartt.
A book that is “required reading” (e.g. a school text or popular classic – something you feel obligated to read):
Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy is like my white whale (fellow Moby Dick haters please forgive my comparison) in this category. For some reason I just can’t help myself from wanting to read it, regardless of how many times I’ve tried and abandoned it.
A book that intimidates you:
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. I’m keeping this answer the same as last year; the language is extremely intimidating to me.
A book you think may be slow:
Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray, because of its dismal nature.
A book that you need to be in the right mood for:
The Fellowship of the Ring by J.R.R. Tolkien. As much as I want to read The Lord of the Rings trilogy, I am rarely in the right mood (and for an extended period of time) to read Tolkien.
A book you’re unsure you’ll like:
I’m going to circle back and say One by One by Ruth Ware…if I do pick it up you will definitely hear my thoughts whether I end up enjoying it or not.
