NaNoWriMo 2019

There’s Something About Writing 50,000 Words in 30 Days

Last year was the first time (out of three or four tries) I “won” National Novel Writing Month, and I’m getting ready to do it all over again. You can read all about my 2018 excitement, progress, and overall experience in this post, and keep reading for how I’m approaching NaNoWriMo 2019.

Unlike last year, I am not starting completely from square one. Instead of creating a new story, I’m going to strengthen and/or elaborate the background information of my current Work In Progress. Speaking of which…

I haven’t been very attentive to my WIP. Over the past year, I’ve read over maybe 10% of the story I wrote, and additionally wrote even less than that. However, if you can believe it, this is not an indication that my passion for the story is waning  – quite the opposite is true. While I went into NaNoWriMo 2018 with the fresh enthusiasm of a first-timer, I’m going into this year’s challenge with more focus. After all, the bones of my story are good, if I do say so myself. And now that I know I can write 50,000 words over the course of 30 days, that numeric challenge doesn’t intimidate me as much.

Which brings me to the state of my blog during the month of November. In 2018, I posted weekly updates on my writing progress, and I will do that again this year: this time on the 8th, 15th, 22nd, and December 1st. I managed to publish seven blog posts last November – which I’m still surprised about, honestly –  and while I don’t want to promise that many or more this year, I will be posting non-NaNoWriMo ramblings and content throughout the month.

And any excess energy I have will be devoted to #bookstagram. I’m excited to share my NaNoWriMo experience through Stories, and to share more writing-focused photos, like writing books and guides I like using, as well as motivational messages.

NaNoWriMo Write

I think that’s all I want to say for my NaNoWriMo Introduction. I talked a little bit about my story here, and that’s really all I want to say about it for now.

If you are participating in NaNoWriMo, let me know! I’d love to support you and hear about your expectations and goals. Buddy up with me here (my username is kels.m) or leave your profile linked below. And finally, if you are in Maine and participating – HI! Will you be attending any of the write-ins? I highly recommend doing so if you haven’t before (regardless of where you live). They can be incredibly inspiring and motivational.

And with that, I’m using the next week to – among other things – get myself in gear for National Novel Writing Month 2019. I hope you are able to stay focused and take advantage of your determination, no matter what you plan on doing next month.
