Down the TBR Hole #2

Down the TBR Hole is a blogging meme created by Lost in a Story. I took part for the first time last month, and for this second round I’m raising the stakes.

This is how it works:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order by [ascending] date added.
  • Take the first 5 books (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous)
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

In May I removed just one out of five selected books from my TBR, so this month I’m targeting ten books – let’s see how many will go and how many will stay.

Sorting out my Goodreads TBR Week #2

Sophie’s Choice by William Styron

I’m not sure I even knew what this book was about when I added it to my TBR (2015) – I think it was my ignorant familiarity with the phrase “Sophie’s Choice” that made me put it on the list. Anyway, I’d still like to read it.

Verdict: Keep

Agnes Grey by Anne BrontË

Definitely still want (need) to read this.

Verdict: Keep

twenty thousand leagues under the sea  by Jules Verne

You know, as I read and reread the summary of this book, it sounds less and less like something I want to read. Perhaps I’ll take it off, at least for now.

Verdict: Discard

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

Definitely still want to read this.

Verdict: Keep

The Casual Vacancy by J.K. Rowling

I added this book when it first came out, but my initial enthusiasm has long been extinguished.

Verdict: Discard

Sorting out my Goodreads TBR Week #2

A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini

I mean, I have to keep this one on my TBR, right?

Verdict: Keep

For One More Day by Mitch Albom

I have enjoyed both books I’ve read by Mitch Albom (Tuesday’s With Morrie and The Five People You Meet in Heaven), so I have no reason to believe I won’t enjoy this one.

Verdict: Keep

The Hobbit (or) There and Back Again by J.R.R. Tolkien

One of my goals is to read the Lord of the Rings trilogy this year, and if I do that this book will follow shortly after (cross your fingers with me!).

Verdict: Keep

Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

Reading East of Eden was such an indulgent experience, I’d call myself crazy if I removed this from my TBR.

Verdict: Keep

Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut

Another classic that I still want to read.

Verdict: Keep

Out of the ten books here I’m removing two from my TBR. Not the high number I was hoping for, but I guess I can’t complain that my list is full of books I actually want to read. So far, anyway. Have you removed any books from your TBR lately? Share below, as well as any thoughts you have about these books.
