2018 Wrap-Up | November

This wrap-up is going to be quick, because every word I write here is one that doesn’t contribute to my NaNoWriMo word count. Plus, the books I did have time to read this month were in a word: disappointing. I did however, find the time to write a couple of posts outside of book reviews and NaNoWriMo 2018 Updates, so click here to check those out. Now, let’s get into this wrap-up.

Books I Finished:

Gazelle in the Shadows by Michelle Peach – This book fell short of my expectations, and unfortunately it’s not something I’ll be recommending. Read my book review here.

Books I Did Not Finish:

Blood Moon: Part 1 (Chroma Crossing Chronicles) by S. Yurvati – You can find my full book review here, but in short, this book started to become too unraveled and disconnected. Plus some of the scenes didn’t seem to really move any part of the story forward, and instead just continued to confirm character traits and attitudes that were already well established (the second book pictured is Part 2, which I didn’t get to).

Bricked In by Max Wannow (audiobook narrated by Max Wannow– I did not get very far into this audiobook, for reasons I explain in my book review here, but the gist is that the graphic violence and [consensual] sex got way too intense way too quickly. It just wasn’t my thing.

Books I Added to My Bookshelf:

The Brontë Cabinet by Deborah Lutz

The King Must Die by Mary Renault

The Secret Chord by Geraldine Brooks

The Rainbow by D.H. Lawrence

Books I Am Not Keeping:

There are a couple I know I want to unhaul, but to be honest I forgot about them until this moment. I even photographed them for an unhaul post weeks ago, but forgot about the post, too. I’m really keeping it together over here!

I’ll put them on my December unhaul post instead.

This has been perhaps my most mediocre reading month (okay, the worst) of the entire year. However, I did pick up some great books and have been quite focused on National Novel Writing Month, so while this post doesn’t exude positivity, I have been content elsewhere. 😎 What about you? Share your best, worst, and in between reading and/or writing moments of the month below!

Onto December 2018, and continuous exclamations of “Where did this year go?!?!”
