This installment of From My Bookshelf is brought to you by the final month of summer and nostalgia. I knew I wanted to feature one particular author for this post, because for a few summers in my teens I almost exclusively read her books. The ones I read were so indulgent, so captivating; perfect for the beach or reading in a tent on a camping trip.
I also knew the three books I wanted to feature. To my surprise, none of those books are on the shelves in my apartment – mom, do you have them hiding away somewhere? In fact, I only had two (both unread), and if you are familiar with my FMB series, you know I prefer to feature at least three in these posts. So last month I picked up a more recently published title; I need to read it, anyways.
The author: Kristin Hannah. The books [I wanted to feature]: True Colors, Firefly Lane, and Winter Garden. The books [I’m actually featuring]: Well, they’re below of course!
My most recent Kristin Hannah acquisition, this book sounds so rich and detailed and harrowing; the cover is quite beautiful, too. I have not read this novel, but I probably ought to before the movie comes out [in January].
I thought I had read this, but that’s only because it’s the sequel to the book I read and loved: Firefly Lane. As far as I know, these are the only two books from Kristin Hannah that form a duology (or series); I’d be interested to find out what made her continue this particular story.
Other than the fact that I haven’t read this one either, I don’t really have anything to say about it. The summary is probably the least enticing to me out of these three, but since it’s on my shelf I’ll [eventually] give it a shot.
Since I can’t recommend these to you [yet?] because I haven’t read them, I will urge you – whether you have read Kristin Hannah or not – to read True Colors, Firefly Lane, and Winter Garden. And no, I haven’t read The Great Alone yet, either (don’t worry, it’s on my TBR!).
Have you enjoyed any of these books yourself? Not enjoyed any of them? As always, share your thoughts below, and thank you for reading.
