The Horse and His Boy: A Book You Picked Up Without Knowing What it Was About
I just picked this book up this week from the library: Vicious by V.E. Schwab. I’ve followed V.E. Schwab forever on Twitter and have admired the covers of her Shades of Magic series, but have pretty much avoided spoilers/summaries of all her books. For some reason this week I’ve felt like I needed to get into her books, and since none of the Shades of Magic series were immediately available at my library, I chose Vicious – and even after taking it home I still don’t know what it’s about.

I’m Thinking of Ending Things by Iain Reid. I am ob-sessed with this book. Going into it I thought I would enjoy it, but I really wasn’t prepared for how insanely delicious I was going to find it by the end. UGH I’m getting the feels all over again.
The Last Battle: A Perfect End To A Series You Love

The perfect end to a series I loved was The Southern Vampire Mysteries. I enjoyed following Sookie through all her travails with supernatural creatures and the undead. Perfect summer fare for me. And the ending satisfied without being trite. But, also Harry Potter.
I’ll tell you what wasn’t satisfying–and I know it’s tough for authors, but the Earth’s Children Series, Game of Thrones, and The Inheritance Cycle–all of which took (and in George RR Martin’s case are still taking) so long to write the next book it’s hard to remain interesting for the next one. It’s so hard with such involved books for authors to write credibly and under the gun given fan expectations, I know and appreciate that. But it doesn’t change that it’s a real challenge from a readers perspective.

I’ve never heard of The Southern Vampire Mysteries, but I’m very into vampire stories and mysteries (as they typically go hand in hand) so I’m going to check that one out! And I agree with your last point very much. Especially for readers (like me) who often prefer to reread past books in a series if the next installment has a very far-in-the-future release date.

Vicious is an amazing book, I love it! I seem to be a black sheep when it comes to Jane Eyre, everyone seems to love it >-< I always want to read And Then There Were None though!

I have since finished it and LOVE it, and am excited for Vengeful. Jane Eyre is a book I love talking about with others because I find people either really enjoy it or don’t care for it – is there one specific reason you don’t like it? Finally, read ATTWN asap! 🙂 It’s so much fun.

I think Jane is kinda creepy as a character? And also Mr. Rochester… Basically I’m scared by all the characters ahaha >-<

Jane as creepy – interesting! I’ve certainly heard of Mr. Rochester being a creep, but never Jane.
