Twenty Questions Book Tag

I found this book tag over on Thrice Read, a book blog I’ve been following for a while. You can find Jenn’s post here, and I’ve added my answers below.

How many books is too many books in a series?

I haven’t really read many series, so based off the ones I have read, more than seven is too many (I bet you can’t guess which series I’ve read). Although three is my preferred number.

How do you feel about cliffhangers?

If an author can write a good cliffhanger that isn’t just a random ending, then I enjoy it.

Hardcover or paperback?

I’ve always been more in love with paperbacks. They are easier to carry around, easier to open and read, and less expensive to replace (in almost every case). Unless it’s a Book of the Month book, a special edition, or a new release that I must read ASAP, I’ll pick the paperback every time.

Favorite book?

If you have one favorite book, good for you. My favorite books are similar, but the aspects that differentiate them from each other are what makes me love them, so I can’t choose just one.

Least favorite book?

The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. Why/how is EH so revered?

Love triangles: yes or no?

Sure, yes.

The most recent book you just couldn’t finish?

George and Lizzie by Nancy Pearl. I was so excited to read this but just couldn’t get into the story or the characters.

A book you’re currently reading?

I think my Goodreads shelf is updated, but Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is the main book I’m currently reading.

Last book you recommended to someone?

Is anyone tired of me recommending The Broken Girls by Simone St. James? Too bad. 😉

Oldest book you’ve read?

Hmmm…probably Confessions by Saint Augustine of Hippo (for a college course) – written between AD 397 and 400.

Newest book you’ve read?

The Broken Girls by Simone St. James, since it isn’t out yet (March 20th!).

Favorite author?

Refer to “favorite book.”

Buying books or borrowing books?

I am a loyal, happy library patron, but I am also a proponent of writing in margins, underlining, and highlighting [when necessary]. So I would be remiss if I did not choose buying books.

A book you dislike that everyone seems to like?

A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson. I usually hear nothing but good things about this book, but it just fell flat for me.

Bookmarks or dogears?

Bookmarks!!

A book you can always re-read?

I recently listed ten, but for the sake of this book tag: Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, The Complete Fiction of Nella LarsenThe Fireman by Joe Hill.

Can you read while hearing music?

Yes, if it’s instrumental / music without any lyrics.

One POV or multiple POVs?

I like both too much to choose.

Do you read a book in one sitting or over multiple days?

Usually over multiple days.

One book you read because of the cover?

Ruby Holler by Sharon Creech.
