Books I’ll Probably Never Read Tag
Thank you to The Bookworm Drinketh for tagging me last month (see her answers to this book tag here)! 🙂 I like to do just one book tag a month, but depending on if I find a good romantic book tag for February, I might do two, especially since this one is quite short. We’ll see. Also, I’m currently really into gifs (or more so than usual), so I’ve sprinkled some in below. Anyway, here are my answers to the Books I’ll Probably Never Read Tag.
A Really Hyped Book
Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance. From what I know about this book, I can draw many parallels to my own hometown, and I already have to deal with those connections and my gripes with them so I don’t want to live that twice over by reading this book.
A Series You Won’t Start Or Won’t Be Finishing
The Hunger Games trilogy. I couldn’t really get into the first book, and I just don’t have any interest in picking up this series and trying again now.
A Classic Novel
There are very few (if any) classics I’m not interested in, so I’m going to name classics that I’ve read but could have happily gone my entire life not reading: The Old Man and the Sea (or really anything by Ernest Hemingway) and Moby-Dick by Herman Melville.
A Genre
I don’t know if it has a specific name, but anything to do with political analysis or political science (not political biographies or memoirs; most, anyway).
A Book From Your Shelves
Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham. I’m actually in the process of removing this book from my shelves (learn more about that here).

For series, I’ll NEVER (at least I don’t think I will..) start Game of Thrones. I’m not committing to those books until all of them are out, which I doubt will ever happen.

I was going to answer with Game of Thrones, but I still have a little curiosity that prevents me from saying I’ll never read them. I may start them soon, or they may just collect pounds of metaphorical dust on my TBR list until the end of time. Who knows! 😉

Just in case it changes your mind.. I heard that George R Martin doesn’t plan to complete the written series because the show has taken off so well he’s just going to end it on the TV series.

If that’s true then boooo. Just whimsically ending a series is tough enough, but to do it because of another medium?! Ugh.

I’m glad you said Hunger Games… I didn’t mind the 1st book, but it was all so angsty after that… I just didn’t care who she was going to end up with or any of that junk… I had to force myself through the 2nd and 3rd just because I hate leaving something incomplete.. Lol!!

While I do agree that the beginning of The Hunger Games books is a bit slow, it makes up for it as you finally enter into the games! (Not a spoiler. It’s on the freaking cover people) 🙂 I also are the opposite of what you are, I can almost always start something and never finish it. In my opinion it’s a win, but in others it would be the worst thing to have. Good post.

I have never read the Games of Thrones series too. I also picked up the first book of the Fifty Shades series….hated it and couldn’t bring myself to read the other two!!

I flew through the first Fifty Shades book, but the second and the little of what I read of the third were just “meh.” I’m pretty sure if they weren’t so hyped when they were published I wouldn’t have read them.

I did read The Hunger Games when my daughter was reading them…OK for teen fiction. For me the series I won’t start is Fifty Shades….thin I’ve just heard too much about them! Agree with you on OldMan & The Sea….

Yeah, I really still don’t understand why I was made to read OM&TS in school, it’s absolutely dull.
